Board Members

The HOPE² Board's actions and decisions will be governed by the agreed upon Guiding Values and Statement of Faith, according to the by-laws.  

 

The board is the governing body of this organization.  Members will be voted on every 12-24 months.  Board member responsibilities include:

 

  • Governing the organization.

  • Establish the operating policy including: class offerings, schedule, student eligibility, and identifying the site for instruction.

  • Board members shall meet throughout the year and will call general member meetings.

  • Board members may call special meetings with appropriate parties and decide necessary actions (including disciplinary actions).  These meetings may be open or closed.

  • Appoint an election committee to oversee elections.

  • Have the discretion to interview and approve teachers.

Melodie Miller

Director

Melodie and her husband Gene are the proud parents of eight children and are now beginning to also enjoy grandchildren.  Melodie has been homeschooling for over 16 years.   When she isn't busy with her homeschool and co-op responsibilities she is busy working full time as a nurse in a large teaching hospital in Richmond.  Her hobbies include photography, reading quietly, or attending college baseball games with her family. The Millers are members of Hanover Baptist Church in King George.

Melissa Redmond

Secretary

Melissa has been part of HOPE² since moving to King George in 2018. Typically she likes assisting or teaching the elementary kiddos, especially when its related to art and helping kids explore their creativity! In her free time, Melissa enjoys painting, doodling, bullet journaling, and reading but homeschooling and enjoying time with her family usually keep her busy. She has been married to her husband, Glen since 2002, they have 4 beautiful children, and they are a retired military family.

Jen Ritchie

Treasurer

Jen has been a homeschooling mom for ten years.  She has a degree in accounting and loves crunching numbers, making the role of treasurer a perfect fit for her.  In her spare time she enjoys knitting and crocheting.  Jen and her family attend THRIVE Christian Fellowship in King George.

Church Liaison

​While other board members are elected, this position is appointed jointly between the acting director and the church.  Ideally this position would be held by a member of the church.  If the person holding this position is a member of HOPE², they hold voting privileges.  If they are not a member of HOPE², their role is advisory only with veto privileges.
